The reason that I finally chose the title “Med Obsession” for this blog, is because I realize now how much of my life has been consumed with medicine since I started medical school. Every possible name I contemplated was related to some medical website that I had visited, and it clicked, “I’m obsessed with medicine,” hence the name.
I started the official journey to medical school by attending the famous pre-medical program at Xavier University of Louisiana. I had some of the best years of my life and then moved on to the challenging world of medical school. I enrolled at one of the Top 10 medical schools in the country. During my second year is when I started this blog, writing about all of my experiences as a medical student with life, boards, and more.
During the 08-09 school year, I went through the grueling process of applying to residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. After months of interviews, which I chronicled on my “Ob/Gyn Interviews” page, I finally made a rank list. I matched at my #1 choice, and I am now a resident at one of the Top 10 Ob/Gyn academic programs in the nation. I now write about my life as a resident!
I’m definitely still learning tons about the field of medicine: from the knowledge of the medical material to the knowledge of the strategies that must be used to make it to the top. This blog is just a way for me to vent about some of my experiences. Feel free to comment on the “General Comments” page or on the individual posts and share your own experiences as well.
