I PASSED USMLE STEP 2 CK and CS!!!!
Like I did for Step 1, I will post how I did on the Kaplan QBank, the USMLE CBT test, and the online NBME practice tests. I’ll also post how I did on the exam so that you can see the trend. FYI: My score trended up from the predictions and I improved by 12 points from Step 1!!! I’m so excited that I just took the exam early. Looks like it scored me an interview at Yale too. Studentdoctor.Net has a forum for current applicants and about 5 people had been offered interviews at Yale on 9/26… I guess the release of scores put me in the running and they offered me an interview right after these scores released on 10/7. I didn’t listen to everyone who said to take the exam later if I did well on Step 1 and it paid off! This is the part of 4th year I was looking forward to; all I have to do is survive 10 interviews and a few more rotations…
Update: I’ve matched… so I posted my score below.
Now on to the numbers:
Kaplan QBank:
| Distinct Questions Taken: 1058 | |
| Overall Correct: 64% | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Yeah, I clearly didn’t do as many practice questions as I did for Step 1. But I did more of my style of learning: reading, flashcards, making charts, and then doing practice questions to make sure I got it.
NBME:
2008 USMLE CBT Practice for Step 2 (143 sample items found at usmle.org): 83%
June 20 - Comp. Clinical Science Exam (CBSE, scantron test provided by school): 80 = 225 predicted
August 26 - Comp. Clinical Science Self-Assessment (CBSSA, Form 3, from nbme.org): 610 = 241 predicted
August 29 – USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge: 251 (Passing was set at 184, with a mean of 226 and a SD of 23, with most scores falling between 140 – 260)

Congratulations!
THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKIN BOUT!!! World I think we are witnessing the birth of a SUPER Doctor! Great job
how early did you start doing the kaplan qbanks for step 2? what month did you take it in?
congrats on everything!
I started the Kaplan QBank for Step 2 just 4 weeks before my exam (around Aug 1). I took CS the first week in August and then took CK in the last week of August. It was nice to have it all out of my way before submitting my application and doing interviews.
Thanks and good luck to you!
Were you still doing your rotations during this time? Some have said 2 weeks off from rotations is enough, but what is your opinion?
Thanks for your responses!
I took 4 weeks off – basically the whole month of August – to take both Step 2 CS and CK. I thought it was the perfect amount of time for both. About 1 week on CS studying and 3 on CK studying. For me, 2 weeks would have been a little short for CK. I also liked being off from rotations so that I could fully focus.
