I’m officially ready to apply for residency!! I just got this email:
ERAS Electronic Token 2009
Token ID: XXXXXXXXXXX409
The alpha numeric characters printed above is your ERAS Electronic Token.
This electronic token allows you to register at the MyERAS web site so that
you can begin completing your application for ERAS 2009. The token is only
used once, the first time you go to MyERAS and register. When using your
token, type it, without spaces or dashes.
Point your web browser to http://services.aamc.org/eras/myeras/ Click on the
Register button to get to the Registration page. Carefully type your Token ID
correctly and fill out all required fields. The Registration page can only be
accessed once; therefore, be sure to enter in all information accurately.
ERAS is the Electronic Residency Application Service, which is the centralized way that med students apply for residency through the AAMC (like AMCAS for premed students). The thing that makes it better than the med school applications is that it is cheaper for the primary online application, and there are no secondary applications! You can also upload several versions of your personal statement, so if one program is more into research vs. another that is more into community service, you can tailor your statement toward that specific program. It’s amazing that the time for me to actually start applying for residency is here. I know that I have worked on my CV and asked for few letters of rec, but that was all in preparation for ERAS to open up. As much as I want to check it out online, I only have 2 days left before my LAST shelf exam of medical school, so I should get back to the books.

Seems like you never get a real break. You finally finish your exams but its only just in time to get started on the next major task. Anyways good luck with your studying and residency apps!
Yeah, it does seem that way, but the decrease in breaks is brought on gradually. We got the summer between first and second year off. Then between 2nd and 3rd year, I built in my own 3 week vacation after boards. During 3rd year I got 2 weeks in the winter and 2 weeks in the spring, which was nice. And although the time between 3rd and 4th year is only a 3-day weekend, I will be done MARCH 29!!! And have 3 months of vacation before starting internship.
I’m both excited and terrified to start filling out MyERAS!
Good luck!
[...] that I never posted anything about my last shelf exam – Medicine (well I had once sentence on the MyEras post, but that doesn’t count). Anyways, so I just checked my course evaluation and I got [...]
