CPX Exam June 20, 2008

Filed under: In the Classroom, taking Boards — medobsession @ 8:37 pm

I just got home from an extremely long day! Today I had the CPX (Clinical Performance Exam), which is basically a practice test for the Step 2, Clinical Skills exam. I spent the morning interviewing 8 patients back to back with interstation written exercises. We have to take and this test in order to graduate, and also in order to “be allowed” to take the Step 2, CS exam. After that I had the 4-hour NBME Comprehensive Clinical Science Self Assessment, which is a practice test for the Step 2, Clinical Knowledge exam.

Although it was a long day, it wasn’t nearly as painful as I thought it would be. I’m surprised how much I remembered considering they had a Peds and an OB/GYN case, which were my first rotations almost a year ago! It’s cool though since we get feedback on the exams so that we can make the proper adjustments for the real thing. I can’t believe that’s coming up in just 2 months… I guess I need to formulate a study plan!

I’m glad it’s overrrr! I think it was better to have the CPX first.

I agree. Especially since that is the graded exercise, it was nice to have it while I was fresh. I may have been too worn out for it if I had the NBME first.
